A group of diverse Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth (aged 30 and under) will live, learn, work and share together throughout the 3-week program. This in-depth, hands-on educational experience will involve workshops and teachings by Anishinaabe Elders and educators, participation in local projects, discussion and engagement with youth and community organizations in the area. Through our holistic and community-based education model, our participants will have the opportunity to connect with incredible teachers and knowledge keepers. Participants will share and develop their own skills and knowledge in a meaningful process of exchange. Take a look at the CRE Field School information sheets here. If you are between the ages of 18-30 (roughly), and have an interest in the program that we have outlined above - then we're looking for you!We emphasize the importance of diversity, so we encourage applications from young people from various geographical areas and at various points in their lives (students, non-students, graduates). We believe that this process of exchange is important for all people in Canada. We are looking for individuals who are excited to learn and to share their own skills, knowledge, and experiences with the rest of the group, as well as the local community. Who's Involved? The Canadian Roots TeamThe Field School will be led by two facilitators, one of Aboriginal heritage and the other, of non-Aboriginal heritage. These experienced and dynamic individuals will provide daily support to participants, coordinating the schedule and facilitating group orientation, community-building, and reflection activities. For more information contact Rebecca Beaulne Stuebing, Canadian Roots Program Coordinator . Community PartnersThe Field School will be made possible through collaboration with a number of community members and organizations. Stay tuned for more information! Program CostThe program cost is currently $1800.00 per participant which includes
all programming, food, transport and accommodations. This subsidized rate comes from
the support of our community partners. However, we understand that this fee can be prohibitive and needs-based bursaries will be available. Please do not let finances prevent you from applying (we mean it!). We encourage participants to fundraise in their community to cover the program cost. Our team can provide fundraising ideas if you need support! Course CreditYou may be able to obtain course credit for your participation in the Field School, which would involve additional tuition expenses.
